Hva er forskjellen mellom livet og de bildene vil lager av det?The Universe Is My Selfie er en personlig, essayistisk film som tar opp brennbare problemstillinger i vår samtid knyttet til manglende kulturell og religiøs tilhørighet, krig og identitetskamp. Sentralt i filmen står regissørens personlige stemme, og Amirs egen historie danner bakteppet for et kompromissløst og hypnotisk filmverk. 

 

A director gets lost in the maze of representation when he turns the camera on himself in search of the ever-decreasing difference between life and the pictures we make of it. The film raises profound existential questions concerning the lack of cultural and religious belonging and the struggle for identity, and the result is an uncompromising and visually stunning cinematic work of art.
